Itinerary:

Monday Sept. 27
We depart LAX.

Wednesday Sept. 29
We arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Int. Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Get ready for a very exciting day. After checking into our hotel we visit the Giraffe Center where you will have an opportunity to hand-feed a giraffe. Our next stop is the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. This very special shelter will explain how they nourish and raise orphaned baby elephants and rhinos and then send them back into protected game parks. After lunch our final destination is the home of the author of Out of Africa, Karen Blixen.

Thursday Sept. 30
After a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast we head out into the wild. We travel north over the equator towards Mount Kenya, the second largest mountain in Africa. After lunch at the lodge we take our first safari. While on our safari we make a stop at a compound set up by Jane Goodall to protect young Chimpanzees. Rhinos are also protected in this area so have your camera ready.

Friday Oct. 1 - Saturday Oct. 2
Today we continue north to . We arrive in time to have lunch and then off on our search for local game. In Samburu you will find leopard, lion, gerenuk, Grevy zebra, many gazelles and impalas along with hundreds of species of birds. There is an opportunity to visit a very special Samburu Womens Village Umoja. We spend 2 nights in Samburu. Our lodge sits along side the Ewaso Ngiri River. The lodge feeds local alligators and leopards so you can have an up close but safe experience.

Sunday Oct. 3
We drive south with a stop at the equator for a short demonstration of Coriolis Effect at the equator. Our stay is near one of the most amazing lakes in Kenya Lake Nakuru. At Lake Nakuru you will enjoy the sight and sound of hundreds of thousands of flamingoes eating from the lake; this phenomenon is outrageous. Lake Nakuru is also a protected sight for the black rhino, Rothschild giraffe and the black and white colobus monkey.

Monday Oct. 4 - Tuesday Oct. 57
We spend the next two days in an area in Kenya that everyone wants to visit the Masai Mara. Our lodge is in the heart of the Mara. There are so many different animals here that you sometimes cant count all of them lions, leopards, cheetah, elephants, gazelles, impalas, topi, hartebeest, wildebeest, Cape buffalo, zebra, giraffe, ostrich, mongoose, etc. etc. Along with 2 safaris per day we can take time to visit an actual Masai Village.
* An early morning hot-air balloon ride can be arranged over the Masai Mara.

Wednesday Oct. 6 - Thursday Oct. 7
Our departure is after breakfast and we drive to Nairobi for lunch on our way to the Amboseli National Park. Our lodge sits in full view of the highest mountain in Africa, the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. This park is famous for its elephants. They count at least one thousand elephants here. The terrain is quite varied and our lodge is well situated for finding all of the many animals in the area.

On our final day in Kenya we will depart from Amboseli and continue on to Nairobi where we have dinner in a local hotel. There will also be some time for last minute shopping before we head to the airport for our late departure.

Friday Oct. 8
We arrive back in Los Angeles with wonderful memories of an unforgettable experience.
